New Term

January 06 [Wed], 2010, 15:14
Today was my first day of the new term. Meh. Long day was long. Started off at ten with my bald Jewish professor saying the exact same things he said on the first day last term, then being intimidated by this old man professor that doesn't take any crap from anyone. I had the misfortune of sitting next to the most obscene woman I have ever come across. She came in LATE, made tons of noise, screamed at and interrupted the professor to get a syllabus and then loudly hole-punched it. She kept on yelling out random things and the teacher was like wtf? and then she fell asleep multiple times. When she woke up suddenly she would grab my notes as I was trying to write and then copy them. She would loudly whisper to me what she missed and then, here comes the worst thing ever......she opens up her Coke bottle with a huge fizzing sound, pours a little on to her finger, AND USES THE COKE AS EYE DROPS. omg.

Is that not the craziest ever? She was so distracting and obnoxious that I was determined to move away from her during the class break. She asked me where there was a good place to get coffee and I generously told her that there was a little cafe in the building over and she came back 30 minutes late and loud with her coffee disrupting the whole class again. So then she tries to find her seat and because she is a CRAZY she looks for ME instead of her seat.......on the other side of the room and tries to sit by me again. When she realizes that I moved away from her she gives me a nasty face and then stalks off. OH MY GOD. I wanted to strangle her.

Anyways....then I went to my paleozooology/faunal remains class and looked at sheep bones. The teacher tried to scare us off by telling us how much the final project is going to suck but I am pretty excited because I collaborated with her and will be able to incorporate photography in to my project which is one of my hobbies, yay.

After all of that I ate a burrito (I was starving after nonstop classes) and thought about what class I should drop. I just know that 18 credits is way too much for me with work and trying to have somewhat of a life. I decided to drop my Japanese class because it makes the most sense. It is not for my major and it is really too late in the evening and it would be a huge challenge. I know all of this but I am still bummed. This is the second time that I have signed up for this Japanese class, got excited about it, bought the books, and then had to drop it. Bleh. I think it would be better if I tried to learn on my own or just took a summer community college course. Any tips for teaching yourself a language? What works for you?

Well, thanks for reading my ramble. I hope you are having a better day then me. :D
