Mike Tomlin isn't interested in coaching at the college level. (USATSI) Earlier this week, there was a report that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh were candidates for the University of Texas job.
According to Bob Labriola of Steelers.com, Tomlin ain't interested.
Now, @Steelers Mike Tomlin supposedly a candidate for UT job. Doesn't 'candidate' imply someone who wants the job. Must not in this case
― Bob Labriola (@BobLabriola) December 11, 2013@SportsTripper He has no interest in being a college coach. He has said that to me, directly.
― Bob Labriola (@BobLabriola) December 11, 2013As for Harbaugh, when asked about it Thursday, he said "Are you trying to be funny?" He's also in the third year of a $25 million deal and there was a report that he "flat-out rejected" USC when it came after him after it fired Lane Kiffin.
If Mack Brown is in his last season with the Longhorns (update: he isn't), and if Nick Saban can be lured away from Alabama (update: he can't), we'd like to throw another name out there: Mike and/or Kyle Shanahan. Both have experience working with young quarterbacks, and both will almost certainly be available in the coming weeks.
