Run away

When I and my sister, Taka, were six and three years old, we begged our mother to let us have a pet. We wanted a cat because we liked cats, especially kittens, and we thought that a cat would be fun and easy to take care of. We thought the cat could be like our dolls, small and fun. Finally, after we begged and begged, our mother went to a pet shop and brought Lala home for us. For three years, Lala was a friend and companion to us. In a way, we grew up together.
When the cat first came to our home, she was struggling in a small cardboard box. Taka and I were little bit scared of her, and we did not want to get close. But once our mother took out the lovely kitten from the box, we got really excited. We had decided immediately on a name foe her, “Lala”. Lala has fluffy brown hair, small paws and short legs, and big black eyes. We were crazy about her. We were interested in every single move that she made. We watched the kitten when she was eating, sleeping, playing by herself. And also, at first, we did not forget our jobs to feed and give her a bath. When we called her name the kitten would become suddenly obedient and look at us.
Lala’s growth was fast. Time flashed by, our kitten became a cat. Even though she was still cute but we were tired of our jobs. Therefore, all of our chores became our mother’s responsibility.

We learned that cats don’t have only a cute side. Sometimes, Lala brought presents for us. I screamed when I saw the insects still moving in her mouth. She even brought us living mice.
One day, when we were in our room, playing a video game, my mother came in and got angry. ”Didn’t you say that you would take care of the cat!?” We couldn't say anything and we bent our heads. By then, Taka and I had also become older. Then, she started to explain to us how important and how tough it was to take care of living animals. She told us that we were responsible for feeding Lala from the time when we got a pet. I regretted for my carelessness and I promised my mother that I would be more careful for our pet. However, being children, we forgot our promise.
Last time when I saw her at the garden, she was sleeping pleasantly under the sun. I went close to her and touched. Through the hand, I felt her breath and heat. I realized that this little creature is living. Her body was moving up and down synchronizing with her breath. Lala looked different than she used to be when I saw her first time when she came to our house. Her body had grow, and when she is sleeping, she some time snores. When I touched her, she once opened her eyes and look at me. After a big yawn, she started to sleep again. I had left her sleeping there, and that was the last time I saw her. She didn't come back home. My mother said she would return soon. We worried about her everyday. We thought that she had got lost and we cried. I put the cat food in her small red bowl near the door and I waited for her. But she never came back again.
Lala was with us only for a short time. She lived in our house for just three years.
Suzuki 3

Taka and I had a good time with her. We were happy when we played together. But, we were not good, responsible owners. We were too young to understand that pets have shorter lives than humans and that to survive they depend on their human families. Lala could have lived longer, stayed with us until she was an old cat and continued to make us happy. Now, when I think back about Lala and her stay in our home, I realize that all lives are precious and I am more careful of the people I care about.

Guess Inc.

Guess’s history started in 1977 when Georges Marciano and his brother Maurice migrated from Morocco to United States. They wanted to succeed in the United States.
The jeans designed by Georges Marciano were given the name Guess because it was easy for the brothers to pronounce. This apparel also featured what would soon become the distinctive Guess triangle on the back pocket. In 1981, even though English was not his native language, Georges convinced Bloomingdale to display his clothing in Bloomie’s flagship New York store. Because of it, Guess’s jeans became known by many American people. While jeans remained the foundation of the Guess style, the company continued to expand its lines to include comfortable, casual clothing and accessories for women, men, children, and babies to meet every lifestyle. Between 1983 and 1984, Guess started to sell menswear and its sales have risen from $2.5 million to $27 million. Licensed products, including Guess watches, eyewear, and a Guess women's fragrance line, also contributed to overall sales. In 1990, Guess watches alone achieved an estimated $60 million in sales. Guess’s business has increased to the world. In 1997, Guess opened a store in Guam; then, it expanded to South Africa in 1998, to the Bahamas in 2000, and to Japan in 2001. And today, Guess sells its lines through more than 330 retail and outlet stores, to department stores, and also has some 380 licensee stores in nearly 60 countries, and on its Web site.
Guess’ advertisements have received trade attention. The photograph of Guess clothing taken in 1985 in black and white became famous. In 1986, the Clio Awards were presented to Guess for its commercial “Desert”. A photographic collection, titled, “A Second Decade of Guess?Images" was published in 1991 and in 2002. As it can be seen, Guess is a brand that has made a big ripple in the fashion industry. While unusual as a means, these in magazines and newspapers have been one way for Guess to transact business because their quality has attracted such a huge following.
Today, Guess Inc. is the one of the well- known brands in the world. Guess Inc designs trendy and upscale styles, a variety of men's and women's denim pants, overalls, dresses, skirts, shorts, shirts, blouses, jackets, and knitwear. Its accessories are eyewear, footwear, fragrances, handbags, jewelry and watches, leathers, swimwear, and kids' and infants' apparel. Guess has become one of the most widely recognized fashion leaders in the young contemporary women's, men's, kids' and baby markets across the globe. Customers can shop at its Internet store at http://www.guess.com.GUESS. And recently, Guess has been exploring other markets. It’s particularly the upscale and accessories business. Guess opened its first flagship retail location in Shanghai, China in 2007. Within the next year, Guess will have a total of 14 apparel stores and 20 accessory stores in Greater China. Also, Guess is looking to bejewel Europe with aggressive launches in 2007 of its jewelry lines.
Guess is a good company for any retail student to keep in mind for future employment because it is now a billion-dollar multinational retailer, Guess is one of the most widely recognized brands in the world. It is known for quality, marketing creativity, and popularizing new trends and styles.
