俺にとって興味深いのは、World University Rankings 2006のうち、ドイツ、オランダ、スウェーデンといった国々の大学があまり上位にランクされていないこと。
It's interesting for me to know there are few colleges and universities from the countries such as Germany, Netherlands and Sweden in the top part of World University Rankings 2006.

きっと、それらの国の優秀な人たちは、イギリスやアメリカの大学に行ってまうからやろな。
It's probably because intelligent people from those countries go to college or university in the UK or US.

また、それらの国の大学も、授業は英語が当たり前・・・だったりするんやろな。
Also I'm pretty sure, in those European countries, they commonly study and teach in English at colleges and universities.



かくして、知識は英語圏へ、そして、英語という言語そのものへ向かい、蓄積されていっている・・・。これが今日のインターネット時代なんやで。
Thereby, their knowledge and ideas are going to English speaking countries, and English language itself continues to accept and accumulate them in it... This is the Internet age today.



そのうち日本も、代ゼミ偏差値なんのその、本当に優秀な人は、東大、京大でなく英語圏のトップ大学へ、慶応や早稲田や上智目指すなら、英語圏のそこそこ名声のある大学行ったほうがええんちゃう
The time will come soon, even in Japan, when the most excellent students are expected to get into a prestigious college or university, not Tokyo, Kyoto, Keio, Waseda nor Jochi University, with Yozemi standard score losing its influence



・・・いうことになるかもな
...happens maybe.





タイムズのThe Times Higher Education Supplement(THES)が２００４年から始めたTopUniversities.comのWorld University Rankingsは、まさにその流れを象徴してるよね。
すごいなぁ〜('-'*) The Times Higher Education Supplement(THES) started World University Rankings in TopUniversities.com in 2004. I think the website truly reflects the globalization of higher education.
