The Alice Springs Show - finished! / 2005年07月03日(日)

昨日はアリススポリングズのショーだった。忙しかった。
僕と父と母に行った。僕は写真を撮った。

Yesterday was the Alice Springs Show. It pretty busy.

It's been a while since I've went on one of these.

I haven't tried this before.

My parents and I went. I took some photos of the rides. I didn't ride any of them, I've already rode most of them anyway.

I used to love this ride!

This looks like fun.

There was some jousting as new entertainment this year. I didn't find it at all interesting though, it was just a comedy and not real duelling.

We later went to K-Mart, browsed around and I picked an application form. They're looking for people wanting to be in the nightfill and apparel department. I think I'll apply for the apparel department since it's only weekend work, which suits me.

I didn't end up going to tai-chi again today! I was going to get Eunice to have a look at a Mandarin book I borrowed from the Library.

Around 1:00 today, I'm going to the town library to meet up with Linda, Hao-Yu and Savannah and maybe even some St Phillip's students so we can practice our Japanese. We really need to considering we won't have any real practice alone during these winter holidays.

Guuuuhh ... I'm bored!

Brother's Birthday Today! / 2005年06月01日(水)
Gore blimey - how many more birthdays are there to come?

First there's Zenith's on the 13th of this month then Dad's on the 17th so we're practically going broke on all these occasions.

But today, Brenda, Emily and I had a radio interview with someone on the local ABC channel. It went faster than expected.

Going into Brenda's class reminds me of how far us Japanese students have came. Not just in the language, but in life I guess. Being in year 12 and seeing the next generation makes me reminiscent of the past.

I'm looking forward to tonight. I don't often see my brother's family anymore. I'll try and make a special effort tonight then.

I'll take some photos of how the night went. I'll upload them later.

I can't wait till next semester! / 2005年05月30日(月)
The reason why is - there might be 3 new Japanese people coming to town! Shyeah!
One is definitely coming because he's an exchange teacher from Osaka ( Yosh! Osaka dialect! Woo-hoo~! ).
The other two are students, one is female ( Asuka'll have a new friends seeing as Ayana has to return ... ) and the other is male ( Yosh! Awesome stuff! ).
If we hang around as a group then everyone has a chance to improve on their speaking skills.

Asuka and I have decided that we're gonna make a photo album and take lots of pictures while everyone is still here.

Also, I hear there's a Korean guy around town. Around 20 years old ... hmmm. He could probably teach me some Korean - hopefully!

I miss Japan ... / 2005年05月27日(金)
I miss Japan so much!
It's too bloody boring here I tell you. Nothing to do here! I'm going to go crazy!

Hmm ... here's a list of things I miss about Japan:
[1] Japanese food
[2] Shopping
[3] Karoake
[4] Scenery
[5] Technology
[6] Host family
[7] School uniforms
[8] Taking the train
[9] The liveliness
[10] The cool kanji and funny English katakana!

Luckily, Asuka can tell me all about the modern culture. We have so much fun talking about the little things, yeah.

I can't wait till the new exchange teachers and students come here! Everything'll be more interesting! Shyeah!

I have to write a letter to my host family and school. They did so much for us. All we did was complain! Okay okay, I'm sure we weren't all that bad ... we only made towers of plates at the sushi bar ...

Dammit I am bloody bored ...

News, not entertainment! / 2005年05月27日(金)
The story on 9 network about Schapelle and how it was displayed on ads was deplorable!
The media made it look like a blockbuster movie, how can people get entertainment out of that? It's making a whole mockery out of her case. The score had a thriller movie effect and it's just dispicable!

As for the case, I try not to have any biases. Until I get enough information to make a decent opinion, I won't make a fuss about it.
The Indonesian justice system is different and it's not completely fair to put the blame entirely on the Indonesian Judiciary. Of course the judges don't speak English, it's not their first language. It's also obvious that they haven't been trained as well as we'd like to have them be, but their a victim to their own country's circumstance.

Well, I hope all the best for Schapelle. Oh and media influence suck donkeyaballs.

Mum's birthday yesterday! / 2005年05月26日(木)
It was Mum's birthday yesterday!

I completely forgot. I spent so long in the library that I forgot we were having a family dinner together. I'm trying to be a better son from now on. That was inexcusable.

When I Rodell asked where I was I replied that I was in the library. I instantly knew that I was going to get a well deserved scolding. Achilles, Rodell, and the kids gave Mum a really beautiful flower. I like it, and it's now like my pet. I have to water it once a week with one cup of water. Also I have to remember it likes 2 days in the shade. The only thing way the plant can die is by over-watering. So I'll try not to do that. I now have a responsibility for a living thing. To me, plants are alive.

Zenith sang for us last night too! The name of his song was "I'm being swallowed by a boa-constrictor'. Though it took a while to setup, it was a good little performance. Ethan also couldn't help himself but dance. They were too cute.

Alice Springs dialect / 2005年05月26日(木)
In Japanese class today, we had a to decide on which topic we'd like to do an in-depth study on. The project had to relate to Japanese youth culture.

Linda chose to do her project on renewable technology. Savanah chose hers on Japanese fashion. Asuka had a lot to say today, especially about fashion. She gave a lot of insight to Savanah.

I decided to do mine on katakana english. I just can't see why a large proportion of Japanese people love english. I don't think it's cool, if anything I like unreadable foreign words more attractive.

After class Asuka and I went to the library.
She showed me quite a lot of photos of her friends from her mobile phone.
I tried to teach her some Alice Springs dialect and some fairly common Australian phrases. We laughed together. She also told me how to say 'bloody' in Japanese. There's an equivalent called 'cho' and goes in front of adjectives in. I think it's a pretty useful colloquial phrase! Bloody oath mate!

I can't wait till I go to Japan next year. Hopefully, I'll go someplace near Sendai. Asuka's hometown sounds really interesting. And I hear the foods great. Yummo.

Below is photo of Emily, Josh, Lee and Kate before we left for Japan:

I'm not satisfied with myself. I'll try harder to change. / 2005年05月26日(木)
I've been having a hard think about myself and came to the conclusion that I have to change myself before the end of the year. It's also preparation if I want to be an exchange student in Japan. I'll need to have mastered these skills before I leave.

The things about myself that I'm not happy with are things like being unorganized, easily distracted, I let my pride get in the way of getting help, I'm not punctual and I can really try to do more around the house. In short, I'm really lazy and it's getting in the way of my life. As my legal studies teacher (Ian) said: "Just DO something!"

Also, being the youngest in the family shouldn't be an excuse to be pampered and spoilt. I'll try to find some form of income and get my driving license. This way I'll become more independent while still at home.

I can do it!
