Dubbed "Sony Smash Bros." by fans, after Nintendo's crossover brawler, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale features characters from Sony PlayStation games fighting each other in stages which mix their own titles. The characters featured include everyone from first-party favorites Nathan Drake (from Uncharted) and Sackboy (from Little Big Planet) to the armored Big Daddy from 2K Games' Bioshock.

Many (but not all) of the games which have characters featured in PlayStation All-Stars are nowup to 50 percent off if you have an active PlayStation Plus membership and closer to 30 percent off otherwise. PlayStation All-Stars itself is also on a similar sale, although its DLC (downloadable content, including new stages and characters) isn't.

None of the game's very few female characters have had their games featured.

Here's a look at the games on sale:

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Regularly $39 on the PS3 and $36 on the Vita, the game is now under $30, or under $20 if you have a PlayStation Plus membership. The PS3 version comes with a free download of the Vita version, if you have both consoles.

BioShock and BioShock 2

The Big Daddy was first seen in the original BioShock, and became a playable character in the second. Both games are on sale for $14 (under $10 with PlayStation Plus), although none of the DLC is included and the new Bioshock Infinite title is not on sale.

Sly Cooper

The titular animated raccoon's four games are all on sale. HD re-releases of the first three PlayStation 2 games, regularly $10, are on sale for $7 each ($4.89 with PlayStation Plus), and the new Thieves in Time game is now $28 ($19.59 with PlayStation Plus) for the PS3. The Vita version is cheaper, but the PS3 version includes it as a free download.

Sackboy's "platform for games," with millions of player-created levels and full-featured player-made games, is on sale in all of its versions. The original LittleBigPlanet (with limited game-making support) is on sale for $20.99 or $14.69 with PlayStation Plus, while LittleBigPlanet 2 (preferred by user-made content fans) is on sale for $13.99. PlayStation Plus subscribers can download it for free as part of their Instant Game Collection, but will lose access to it if they unsubscribe.

The PS Vita and PSP versions of LittleBigPlanet are also on sale, and neither are included with the PS3 games. The PSP version echoes the original platformer, while the PS Vita version is flexible enough to allow for more creative player-made games with touchscreen support. The less-well-received PS3 spinoff, LittleBigPlanet Karting, is the most expensive LBP title at $28 ($19.59 with PlayStation Plus).

Other games

Most of the God of War series (not the newest game), the entire inFAMOUS series, the Metal Gear Solid series minus Metal Gear Solid 4, the HD remakes of the PS2 Devil May Cry series, and several Twisted Metal games are all on sale as well.

The HD re-releases of the PS2 Ratchet and Clank games are also on sale, as are their more unusual spinoffs like PSP title Secret Agent Clank and tower defense game Full Frontal Assault. The full PS3 games in the main series are not discounted.
