Peca, the captain in the Buffalo Sabres once they came within a skate blade of winning the Stanley Cup in 1999, coaches his 10-year-old son Trevor on the West Seneca Wings in New York.

During the recent planet junior championship in Buffalo, Peca helped kick off his brainchild, the globe U-11 invitational hockey tournament. Some of the top teams from across North Rubber Magnet America participated, because the most beneficial junior players in the world battled nearby.

"I love it. I just appreciate teaching the game towards the children," says Peca, who lately coached against rare earth magnets a team from Boston led by former NHLers Tony Amonte and Marty McInnis. "I like being a part of it."

But components on the game he played as a boy, Peca says, have changed for children his son's age.

"The biggest surprise to me is how plenty of parents believe their little ones are getting scouted currently," Peca says. "Parents lose the idea that that is supposed to be entertaining for these ferrite magnet kids. I attempt to remind them of that.

"I see a good deal of parents who're pushing their youngsters so tough that these youngsters aren't actually falling in appreciate using the game on their very own."

Malton native Paul Coffey coaches the Toronto Marlies important peewee group. Former Leaf Jason Allison not too long rare earth magnets ago established a group in Mississauga.

Former Leaf tough guy Tie Domi is definitely an assistant together with the minor midget Don Mills Flyers, where he coaches his 15-year-old son Max, a skilled centre touted to become a major choose within this year's OHL draft - if he doesn't determine on the NCAA college route.

Retired Leafs captain Wendel Clark is an assistant coach - or, as he calls it, the team's "official door-opener" - with all the Toronto Nationals minor peewee squad.

"It's a difficult job," he says from the gig. "You need to make sure that you usually go to the bench with a coffee."

For Clark, coaching is known as a possibility to share one thing he loves with his 11-year-old son Kody. Hockey, when a profession, is now a family members factor.

"It's a great deal of entertaining," Clark says of spending time in the rink with his son. And even though Clark could most likely uncover operate with any NHL group, he prefers the minor leagues.
