One of the largest and most active YHRI chapters in the world, the St. Petersburg group is led by Ruslan Khusainov, recipient of the YHRI 2012 Human Rights Hero Award. He and his volunteers have introduced millions to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the worlds premier human rights document, through street events, lectures, educational programs, media appearances and an annual Human Rights Marathon.
The World Tour met with human rights activists and staff of various city agencies responsible for education and youth issues. They also attended a conference on civil law education and laid plans for a regional summit where youth delegates from throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States will meet to coordinate activities and expand human rights education.
