Top auto manufacturers are vying for pole position at the single largest international automotive event in Southern Africa. Held once every two years, the Johannesburg International Motor Show is a complete representation of the Sub Saharan and South African motor industry. The yearlong delay forced upon JIMS by the organisers of the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup served only to increase expectation of the biennial event, last held in 2008.Attracting 225 161 visitors during the 11 day period, the show enjoyed the support of more than 220 exhibitors in four sections: passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles as well as components and accessories. The event included the CAR Conference, where prominent local and international speakers provided great discussion and a unique insight into the automotive industry.The main focus of the 2011 exhibition though, was on the passenger car section where a record number of 36 manufacturers and distributors, which announced the launch of new or face lifted models at the event.Forward Thinking And Inspiration.
