what do you do ....

2007年11月28日(水) 0時46分
what do you do when you suddenly crave chicken pot pie?
and the KFC in Taiwan don't have pot pies?
and there are no American restaurants in the near vicinity that serve pot pies?

you have to make it on your own.

what if you live in the school dormitories and don't have a kitchen?

you go to your dad's condo to cook.

what if you can't find the time to spend an hour and a half on the bus to get there?

You manage it some effing way, darn it!

so my current mission for my stomach is to make chicken pot pie. and pie dough. from scratch. fuck. Japanese food is a lot easier and faster to cook, ya know?

what happens if i crave roasted turkey, with gravy and mashed potatoes? heh. GOOD LUCK, my dear self.

why?

2007年11月24日(土) 0時53分
A fellow Indian student asked me:

"Juli, where is your boyfriend?"
"Oh, I don't have one."
"Why? why don't you have one? You speak English, you speak Japanese, you speak decent Chinese! You're intelligent, YOU HAVE AN AMERICAN PASSPORT. Do they know that you have an American passport?"

um, I think it's because i'm not a blond hair blue eyed sexy hot chic.

rankings

2007年11月22日(木) 0時19分
I happened upon the "top 500 universities of the world" rankings the other day, and checked to see if UCSB was anywhere in there. I mean ... if it's the #12? #13? ranking public universities in the States, I figured that it might be somewhere in there.

Well, UCSB was ranked #35. o_O

um ... what happened to the rest of the world?
UCB was ranked #4, which I have not much to say about ... but uh ... sure, I like my Uni. I love it. I have pride as an UCSB alumni. We've got a shiny set of faculty, our own beach, gorgeous campus, lots of wierd intelligent partying outgoing people. But this is where I start to doubt the ranking methods ... they must have counted the bikes in, too.

hiking

2007年11月21日(水) 0時03分
Apparently, Taiwanese people like to go hiking. How sickningly healthy they are. Last weekend, I tagged along for a short hike at a nearby temple infested mountain.

We met at O six hundred to head off to this mountain.
Yes, i give you permission to call me crazy. I'm actually quite proud of myself for not chickening out. The mountain was ... uh ... the first half was constantly climbing up stone steps, and I must admit I felt like a weakling, and realised how much the biking at UCSB was useful ... until we got to the slopes. Cheers for the UCSB bicycle training!

Don't worry, I haven't become this health and exercise freak ... the real reason we went were to steal enjoy the nature's bounty at this Thanksgiving time and taste some of the oranges that we yanked off trees happened to fall into our hands. Some of the oranges were a bit dry, but for the most part, it was on the tangy sour side - just the way I like it. Yum.

By the way.

Fred: Taiwan mosquitoes are a year-round phenomenon, and I am still the Flavour of the Month. I shall be the Flavour of the Month every month as long as I stay in Taiwan. Never thought in a million LIGHT years that popularity would come in a form such as this. ... I knew that the RedCross was after my blood every 56 days, but these winged things want my blood 24/7/365.

They better not give me malaria. That's definitely NOT on my Christmas list.

waiting list

2007年11月16日(金) 20時34分
I have a waiting list. Well, actually this is the second waiting list. The first waiting list was "Juli does my wedding flowers," which had about 6 people on it. I've already forgotten who's on it, and what order the girls were in ... all I know is that none of them are about to get married any time soon, including me.

The current waiting list is "Juli's going to keep me warm this winter" scarf knitting list. currently, there's 7. let me repeat myself. currently there are 7on the waiting list.

1)white
2)pink
3)tangerine
4)charcoal
5)sky blue
6)purple
7)green

so close to having a rainbow set ... so close ...

class is in session

2007年11月14日(水) 0時20分
Remember my granny knitting? Well, obviously I'm the trend setter. My roomies all are trying to learn how to knit ... and I must say that they're not the best @ it. We've been trying to learn how to HOLD the yarn the past hour.

... um, I think we've got a long, long way to go.

Mosquitoes love me dearly.

I hate mosquitoes .

Oh, what a sad one-way love.

hooked

2007年11月12日(月) 23時23分
I'm currently hooked on knitting.

... Yes, knitting.
Oui, like a grandma in her rocking chair, I sit cross-legged in my folding chair with music blasting knitting away warmth for the coming winter. Who ever thought that I would need a wool scarf for winter in TAIWAN of all places? (AC is alot colder than you realise. really.) I'm on the third scarf for the season, and I may have more coming on the way ... and this is where I put my foot down for downright expensive yarn. WTF do you mean by that tiny little furball costing me more than $6 USD?!

This, my friends, is how my highschool and college savings disappear. damn, I need to work.

greencard?

I got tired of having advertisements at the very top.
not that i've got anything particular to say ....

um....

ah. I've been proposed to by a fellow student from Panama.
An American Passport is very tempting, I know.
