What a tiring day! I was exhausted today after a very long walk in the Sydney city. Actually this long walk was unexpected, not our part of journey. It was because Violet and I were lost in the city!

Today after visiting the Sydney Aquarium, Violet and I planned to walk to the China Town for the Paddy’s Market. Violet suggested that we can buy some souvenirs to our Hong Kong relatives and friends there. We bought bags, drawings, snacks and T-shirts. Although some of the products stated they are under an Australian brand, later I realized that many of them were in fact ‘Made in China’. That’s really strange for us Chinese to buy products in Australia that actually made in China. Maybe this is inevitable in the future that globalization has hit the world thoroughly.

By six, I suggested that we’d better back to the college and had our dinner. Because yesterday I didn’t go out so I didn’t know the way to the bus stop. Violet did go out so she was the one to lead me the way. But soon I realized it was totally wrong to let her do the task. She actually forgot the street names and the environment around! We have gone through Pitt Street, Castlereagh Street, Elizabeth Street, Liverpool Street…We finally got to the bus stop, but it was already eight.

This is my first time traveling abroad so far. Honestly, the time when we wandering around Sydney streets was a little scary. I was afraid something would happen and I wouldn’t be able to make it back to Hong Kong… We didn’t have any ideas about the street names and which area we were. However, we didn’t ask the people there…Although we have been studying English for almost 20 years, we seemed not willing to speak English, no matter we were in the English-speaking countries.
